Creating a Positive Corporate Culture

IS YOUR CORPORATE CULTURE HEALTHY?

Your organization may be doing an amazing job of churning out superior products and/or services. You may have invested in good quality and trendy infrastructure and up to date technology. But are you paying as much attention to what drives the potential of your staff? Have you identified the underlying beliefs and values that drive your employees? Or their inherent assumptions when making decisions? Corporate Culture counts!!! These are hidden details that determine whether your team members show acceptable and rewarding behaviour in the workplace and whether they extend these behaviours to external clients.

The HOW!

  • Treat each team member equally. Show your cleaner the same courtesy as you would a record-setting departmental manager. This sets a standard for respect for everyone to follow.

  • Cut out the BS! Be as straightforward as possible. No need to be rude. But save everyone’s time and Say it as it is.

  • Don’t reserve appreciation and praise for special occasions and special people. Make it standard practice to thank team members regularly. Treat your people like people!

  • Create meaning! Your mission statement and objectives should be known and understood by all. Give team members specific examples of how their roles positively impact the company and contribute to growth.

  • Compensate. Compensate. Compensate. A well-thought-out compensation plan attracts and retains the best talents. Keep your word and pay them that bonus you promised. Provide nonmonetary compensation such as health insurance and pension funds. If cash is a problem, consider more work-from-home days or extra vacation days for employees who are parents.

A big chunk of our time is spent at work. As an employer, intentionally create a work culture that supports and engages current employees and attracts fresh talent.

All the best!
